“Revisiting the last consultation and reflecting on progress leads well into required changes…”
These appointments usually last between 30 to 60 minutes, and it’s a great opportunity for us to discuss how you’ve been since the last time we met, including how your health or symptoms may have changed, how you found taking your herbal medicine, and any changes you’ve made to your life or lifestyle. It’s also good to have another check on any body system that I may have examined at our first meeting, if it’s appropriate (pulse, blood pressure etc) to see if anything has changed or shifted.
“I feel like I’m making progress. You listen and respond to how I feel and react to the medicine… I think the talking part is just as important as the medicine…”
In this day and age, we often don’t have the opportunity, or time, to truly discuss our health and how we feel, in a safe comfortable environment, with someone we trust. Whilst these appointments aren’t counselling sessions (I am able to recommend a number of excellent local registered counsellors if you feel this may benefit you), they are a really important part of making sure that we address changing situations – emotional and physical – and keep your journey to better health on up.
“Results-driven and focus is never forgotten or side-stepped…”
Sometimes slight changes might be made to the different herbs your prescription contains, to reflect your changing health, and sometimes no changes are necessary, as you’re continuing to do well with them, and you feel that your body is still working well with them.
Everyone is different, as every-body is different; so each of my prescriptions reflects that. As does my consultation technique, which has been described as “flexible and creative”. Even if you feel the need to draw something to explain a feeling, sensation, how you feel, or how the herbs made you feel, I have plenty of coloured pencils and pens at the ready. Sometimes, not everything can be put into words…
