Herbal Medicine Consultations

I offer flexibility in how we can work together. As it’s important for you to feel comfortable, safe and at ease when you have a herbal medicine consultation. Whether online, at a home-visit, or outdoors walking with nature, I can help to support your flourishing health.

My usual consulting days are Wednesday to Saturday, including two evening options, and can be online or face-to-face.

Your Consultation

Just as nature is flexible and adaptable, the way I work mirrors that, both with consultation style and herbal prescription. Everyone’s needs are different.

I hold space for you, whilst we talk, in exactly the same manner with online appointments, as I do if we are to see each other in person. A fully confidential experience, I take the time to explore the roots of illness, and feelings of unwellness, to reach a good understanding as to how I, and the herbs, can help you.

Whilst I’m not a counsellor, talking about health is inherently therapeutic, with many people developing a greater awareness and understanding during their consultations, seeing common threads. I listen to and hold your individual story, and help you to develop and sometimes unfurl that story, to shift your health forward and help you to flourish.

The consultation is as important as the herbs themselves.

My consultations may take longer than some; this is because I want to ensure you are heard. You’ll feel unhurried, and able to take your time with sharing your personal story, to enable me to understand what is going on for you and establish what herbs will fit with you.

I think that Hannah is an amazing herbalist, she actively listens to everything that you have to say and has a calming presence. She is very detailed when making the medicine and makes sure that you have the correct herbs for your symptoms.

Your treatment

Once your health story has been heard, I then write up a plan, of what needs to take place to support your health, and write your bespoke herbal prescription. Just as you are an individual, so the herbs need to fit your unique picture. Each prescription is hand-made by myself, from my largely organic, biodynamic herbal dispensary, and then carefully and discreetly packed and posted to you within the week, for you to start taking straight away. If you’re local to me, I may hand-deliver your prescription.

The key to keeping moving forward is for regular review appointments, usually at 4-8 week intervals. At each appointment, I made detailed notes, so you don’t have to remember how you were feeling at that given point in time. We then revisit these at each appointment, to track your progress. As your health changes, so do your herbs, with sometimes subtle changes being made to reflect your changing health picture. This is one of the true benefits of this not being an ‘off the shelf’ herbal remedy.

My fees are listed in the FAQ section just below here.

What are your Fees?

Fees from Feb 2026 – My fees are split into ‘appointments’ and ‘herbs’, as different people need differing amounts of herbs, and differing amounts of consultations. The way that I work doesn’t fit into a ‘package’ or ‘time limit’.

Can I contact you between appointments?

Yes, for short, immediate questions via email, or for keeping me updated about fast-moving medical matters, you are welcome to contact me, and I do not charge a fee for this. For short queries, if you wish to offer a small token for my time, you can use the Ko-Fi link here.  Any query requiring a longer response, or checking aspects relating to your health, or medication, may incur an additional fee (which would be agreed beforehand).

Can I take herbal medicine from you, alongside the medication prescribed by my GP, or hospital consultant?

Yes, you can taken herbal medicine alongside prescribed medication. A benefit of seeing me as your herbalist, is that I am trained in herb-drug interactions, and will always ensure that herbs you are prescribed, do not negatively interact with any medication you’re taking. I will not automatically let your GP or hospital consultation know that you are taking herbs, but if you wish for me to write to inform them, this is a service I am able to offer, for a small letter fee.

Can I take herbal medicine from you, and have consultations, if I’m seeing another health practitioner?

Usually, yes. I will ask you to let me know of any additional therapy you are undertaking, whether NHS-based, private counselling (or associated talking therapies), acupuncture, massage and any other therapy (complementary/alternative). This is important to know, as it may have an impact on what herbs I can prescribe you. Herbal medicine can work very well, alongside counselling / psychotherapy, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and yoga therapy.

How long will my herbal treatment take to have an effect? Or how long will I be seeing you for?

I usually like to see some shift in your health, even if only subtle, by your first review appointment. My details noted help us both to track this, as it’s often difficult to remember how you were feeling some weeks ago.

In terms of how long you’ll be seeing me for; it depends. For acute, or short term health issues, 1-2 appointments can sometimes be enough, e.g. for hayfever. Longer term health issues and chronic health matters will take longer. With some people choosing to take herbs for health issues for some years, and using the opportunity of repeat prescriptions from me, to manage chronic symptoms well, and checking in with me once every 6 months via short phone / email review. My usual time for working with people is 8-12 months.

What kind of health conditions can herbal medicine help with?

If you have already been given a health diagnosis, some of the conditions that herbal medicine can help to support, include:

  • Acute respiratory health issues e.g. the common cold, influenza, coughs, rhinosinusitis
  • Allergies, including hay fever
  • Anxiety, stress and mild to moderate depression.
  • Arthritis, and joint/muscle issues, including rheumatoid arthritis
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Digestive health issues, such as indigestion, IBS, inflammatory bowel disease
  • Hormonal and reproductive health (premenstrual syndrome – PMS, endometriosis, fertility difficulties, menopausal symptoms)
  • Immunity issues
  • Respiratory health,
  • Skin health, including acne and psoriasis.
How long do you keep my consultation notes and prescription records for?

I will keep your notes and prescription records for 7 years, in my locked secure filing cabinet. After that time, they will be securely disposed of. This does prove helpful, as some people return to me for treatment for a different health matter, some years down the line, so in such cases, I can retrieve your notes from my archive, and we can pick up a the point we left off. For children and vulnerable adults, in accordance with UK healthcare regulations, notes will be kept for a longer period.

Can I take my herbs before / after surgery?

Yes. You will need to stop taking your herbs a number of days before your surgery. Please let me know at your next appointment / as soon as you know you are due to have surgery, so I can advise you personally of when you need to stop taking them, and when will be fine for you to re-start taking them.

Are your herbal medicines suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

As a Western Medical Herbalist, my herbal medicines do not contact animal extracts. Tincture, tea and capsule preparations are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Due to the beeswax content of my creams and ointments, these are not suitable for vegans, however I am able to make up bespoke infused oils for vegans, if external preparations are required.

Do I have to have a consultation to buy herbs from you?

As a registered Herbalist, it is part of the code of ethics that I adhere to, that I cannot sell you herbs without a consultation first. This is to make sure that you’ll always be getting the herbs that are suited to you, and your health. If another herbalist has made you a prescription, that you are no longer able to see, I will need to still see you for a consultation before dispensing herbs for you.
