What happens at a home-visit appointment?
I will arrive with you at the agreed time, and we would usually conduct the consultation in your living room, dining room, kitchen table, or at your garden if it’s suitable for a confidential chat. I’ll frame what we’ll be doing during our time together, and also offer you the opportunity of asking any initial questions you have. I am comfortable with having animals present during a consultation, especially as often they can be a therapeutic presence.
We then settle into having an in-depth and relaxed discussion about your current health needs, and how you are feeling in yourself at the moment, as well as working our way through your whole health history, from childhood, to present day. In addition, we’ll talk about your family health history, and any medication or health supplements you may be taking, which I’ll need to take into account when making your herbal medicine prescription. We’ll also sometimes talk about what you eat and drink, as sometimes the tiniest adjustment can make a big difference.
I will usually take your wrist pulse, and blood pressure at the end of the consultation, and bring my kit with me, as this can also add to your therapeutic picture, and give me a better idea of how to help you. It’s not always necessary, but it’s great if it’s a possibility.
At the end of the appointment, we’ll then discuss and agree what you’d like to achieve from taking the herbal medicine I’ll be making for you, as well as booking in your next appointment, usually in 4 or so weeks time, to ensure we can continue to keep your heath moving in the right direction. I may then either hand-deliver, or post your herbal medicine prescription to you, within the week.
