Herbal prescriptions

Quality is hugely important to me, when it comes to the herbs that I use to make your prescription. The majority of my herbal medicine dispensary consists of organic, UK-sourced/grown dried herbs, and tinctures that are made from fresh plants, rather than dried, supporting organic and often small-scale biodynamic herb farms within the UK. All of my suppliers are herbalists themselves, so understand the importance of high quality herbal extracts.

Tinctures

Herbal tinctures form the main basis of my prescriptions. Tinctures are an alcohol-water (ethanoic aqueous) extracts of a whole herb, or herb part (leaf, root etc), and as they are a strong extract, generally only 2-3 teaspoons are needed a day (taken twice or three times over the day). Every tincture prescription is individual to each person, and can often contain up to 10 different herbs, pre-mixed for you in one bottle, so there’s no complicated mixing or brewing for you to do; you just shake the bottle to make sure it’s all mixed together properly, pour out your dosage, and drink.

Herbal teas and capsules

I also blend bespoke herbal tea blends and make capsules from powdered herbs as an alternative, or adjunct to tinctures. Teas can also be very helpful if you struggle to find the time to relax, or find time for yourself, and therefore the action of making a cup, and taking the time to sit with it, inhale the aromas, and slowly sip it, can be a useful action in itself. Teas are especially helpful for children and for sleep issues. Some herbs are better fresh out of your garden, than in dried form, so I may suggest you pick your own from your own garden, if you grow herbs yourself.

Herbal creams and ointments

For skin, muscle and joint conditions, creams and hand-made ointments / salves may also be provided for you.

The physical help, the product you have supplied has I know been keenly instrumental in the great improvement I feel, to the degree that now I take little note of any concerns when going about my daily life … thanks for everything, Hannah. I am very much better, and attribute that, as much as anything, to your help and support.

Repeat prescriptions

If you’ve already seen me for a series of appointments, if we reach a point during your treatment when you are progressing steadily and safely, or is maintained at a level for which you are happy to stay at (such as with pain-relief, for example), or if you’re going away on holiday for a period of time, for example, we can discuss the option of repeat prescriptions. I am able to ascertain how long a prescription will last for, and so I make a note when you are likely to run-out and I’ll contact you nearer the time, if I don’t hear from you before. As it does take time for me to make prescriptions, there is a nominal fee for each repeat prescription, to cover my costs of making the prescription, plus the cost of herbs.
