I’m a compassionate, skilled, professional Herbalist who values the art of listening and has a true passion for sharing my plant knowledge. With a first class BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine, over a decade of experience and membership of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, my passion for nature, has been life-long.
I’ve continually worked in private practice across Lincolnshire since graduating in 2010, and in recent years, I refocused my clinical practice to work as an online herbal practitioner and home-visiting Herbalist, with my largely organic herbal dispensary situated in my home office.
In my herbal consulting practice, I work with people across the UK, and my outdoor work is taken across the UK, with a focus on the East Midlands.
Nature has always been a constant companion for me; making enormous daisy chains and writing elaborate nature stories as a child, to birdwatching and being an environmentally conscious teen, and exploring our landscapes through walking as an adult. After a life of loving the natural world, people and places, I returned to University as a mature learner.
It was during my time as a student, that in addition to studying botany, I also became interested in learning about plants from a sensorial perspective, using all the senses to explore the true nature of medicinal plants and trees, something that I have taken forward into professional practice.
During my time at the University of Lincoln, I focused my studies on reproductive and skin health, and supporting people with a cancer diagnosis. In addition to studying human health, medicinal plants, safeguarding and ethics, I completed 500 hours of supervised clinical practice, and a clinical placement with a Consultant Oncologist at Lincoln County Hospital, which inspired me to write my dissertation entitled: ‘The safety, anti-proliferative, and cell-growth inhibiting effects of Cimicifuga racemosa (black cohosh) in oestrogen receptor-positve (ER+) human breast cancer”.
Since graduating, I have continued my learning and dedication to the profession, by completing numerous post-graduate courses. This includes training in Collaborative Oncology with a leading international herbalist, as well as further reproductive health training and nature connection training, and provided talks at Lincoln County Hospital about herbal medicine and breast cancer.
My passion for educating about medicinal plants and nature also came to the fore during 7 years as a part-time Lecturer and eventually Programming Lead for the BSc (Hons) Clinical Herbalism degree at Lincoln, teaching across all 3 years of study. I then chose to leave the field of Higher Education to focus and dedicate my time entirely to my clinical practice and wider public-facing nature education experiences.
